The Maine Lobstermen’s Association (MLA) mark has a simple, distinct form that makes it easily recognizable at both large and small scale. The use of a lobster is a direct reference to the industry the organization represents. The wave form lets the viewer know that the organization is involved with the ocean and lobster fishing, rather than the preparing and serving of lobster, while also alluding to the shape of a lobster’s tail. The choice of typeface is strong and simple, while creating extra visual interest to draw the viewer into the mark. The wave motif is again used in the letter A to tie the text to the illustration.
